About Me

My name is Betsy Maddox.  I grew up the daughter of a Baptist preacher and spent my childhood in Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, and North Carolina.  I went to Baylor University for two years and then transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I graduated with an elementary education degree.  I met my husband Steve at church when we were in middle school and we started dating when we were 16 years old.  We have been married for 28 years now!  We have four children-Ashley, Mark, Laura, and Lindy who are all grown up and out on their own.

Ashley is married to John and they have two children, David and Caroline.

Mark is going to law school in Washington, DC.

Laura and Lindy are twins.  Laura is working at Digitas in Boston.  And Lindy has a degree in fashion and is currently on the hunt for a job.

I teach third grade and have been a teacher for about 20 years now.

I am very active in my church.  I sing in the choir and Steve and I have taught many Sunday School classes ranging from babies to Newly Marrieds!

We have a Jack Russell Terrier named Rocky that keeps us on our toes with all his energy and spunk!

I love Coke, the color pink, reading, cooking, playing the piano, spending time with family and friends, Mexican food, traveling, and blogging.

I am very humbled and blessed by all the ways God has blessed my life.  He has been so good to me and I want to make sure I am doing all I can to give back and live my life to please Him!

  1. I am a former English teacher. Currently, I teach Sunday School at the church I grew up in (following in my Dad's footsteps). My husband's name is Rocky and he plays the piano. My mother's maiden name is Maddox. I too love coke and am starting to love the color pink. I also love reading and Mexican food, although Italian is my very favorite. My grandfather was a preacher (not Baptist). My husband just graduated last year from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. We lived in Tennessee for nine years, where my husband was a Music Minister, and loved it! Don't mean to be weird, but the Maddox name and the fact that your dog's name is Rocky was too much for me to resist noting our similarities. :) I actually found you from Emily's What I learned in December link-up.

Thank you so much for leaving me a comment! I love reading them all! :)
