I get teary eyed when I think about how happy I am for them. If ever there was a couple that deserved to have the perfect wedding weekend, it is them. And they did. The weekend couldn't have been any more beautiful. God truly blessed us with the most AMAZING weather and everything was as good as it possibly could have been.
We had family and friends who came in from all over the world (Mark made it back from Jordan the day before!) to celebrate with them. The Friday before the wedding, Steve's mom and all my sisters-in-law hosted a sweet bridesmaid's luncheon that was so nice. The food was delicious and it was fun just to get to visit with everyone and get ready for all the events of the weekend. Lindy appreciated it so much.
Then Friday night, we had the rehearsal dinner at Dilworth Grille. We invited all of the out of town family to join us, along with lots of friends, and it was such a sweet night. There were stories and poems and toasts and words of advice. There were a few tears and lots of laughs and I know Sean and Lindy felt very loved and encouraged to hear how much they meant to everyone and how much everyone wished them all the best.
Saturday was probably one of the prettiest spring days I have seen in a long time. The sun was shining and it was the perfect temperature. It was the kind of day that you wanted to go outside and just stay there! I know God shines His love down on us every day, but this day in particular seemed like He had created it just for them.
The wedding was held at The Dairy Barn. It is an old, rustic barn that has been renovated. Upstairs is an area where you can hold the wedding, and then downstairs is the reception area. It opens up to a beautiful porch with rolling hills behind it. Big beautiful trees stand on the property and there are horses and cows grazing nearby. It is very picturesque.
We spent the day getting pampered and getting our hair and makeup done. It was a fun day together.
All of Lindy's bridesmaids looked so pretty...
My dad did the service, which was so meaningful and special. He has been doing pre-marital counseling with Sean and Lindy for the past eight weeks, so he knows them and their story very well. He was able to make their service personal and unique just to them. Plus...what a special memory to know that your grandfather married you!
The reception was so much fun. We were able to spread out onto the porch because the night was so gorgeous. Steve spoke, my brother Blake had everyone stand and hold hands while he prayed over Sean and Lindy, and then we danced the night away with family and friends and just had the best time!
I know every wedding is special and all couples deserve a lifetime of happiness together, but I am just so thankful to God that he has brought these two through some pretty tough storms over the past few years and that they are finally a married couple....ready to start a brand new happy chapter in life.
And God has blessed them in amazing ways even since they have been married. They had an awesome honeymoon in Cancun....
and then came home to so many gifts and blessings it is hard to count.
I wish I had a video of Lindy and Sean's first dance. They danced to Hold On by Michael Buble and it was the ideal song for them. It's a new day and new chapter. God has brought them through so much and He has so much happiness in store for them.
Didn't they always say we were the lucky ones?
I guess that we were once
Babe, we were once
But luck will leave you 'cause
It is a faithless friend
And in the end when life has got you down
You've got someone here that you can wrap your arms around
There's a thousand ways for things to fall apart
But it's no one's fault
No it's not my fault
Maybe all the plans we made might not work out
But I have no doubt even though it's hard to see
I've got faith in us and I believe in you and me
So hold on to me tight
Hold on to me tonight
We are stronger here together
Than we could ever be alone
So hold on to me
Don't you ever let me go
Congratulations Sean and Lindy. We love you so much!
