7 Days A Week

We have had a good week. It has gone by so fast that I didn't have a minute to blog. So today we're just going to recap the week day by day.

Sunday-Last Sunday I woke up to the prettiest sunrise.

I think God gives us things like that just to remind us that He is there and that He loves us. Anyway...that's what it makes me think about when I see it!

We had an absolutely gorgeous day that day. It was in the 70's and we got to hang out outside. When it's a pretty day like that, I always want to spend time on my porch--one of my favorite places on earth!

Monday-One of my new obsessions at Starbucks is their oatmeal! I get it about once or twice a week now if I'm in a hurry to get to work. I just grab it on my way and eat it at school and it is so good! Plus it's healthy. Yay for that!

Tuesday-Steve was out of town this week so Mark and I went to dinner together. I had fun catching up with him. I'm so glad he's back home for a little while.

Wednesday-I joined the choir again. I have been out for a while, but it was so fun to be back. I just can't say enough about how excited I am about everything going on at our church right now!

Thursday-Apparently it was sparkly shoe day at school! Haha. I wore my sparkly shoes and so did three other little girls! I fit right in with third graders! :)

We had snow forcasted for Thursday night. My class was over the moon excited, but I told them not to hold their breath. We hardly ever get any snow here.

Friday-Aaaaaannnnddd....I was right! This is what we woke up to.

This pitiful little dusting of snow. Boo! It was pretty, but it melted so quickly. When the weatherman says it's going to snow, I turn into a 6 year old. I always get so excited. I guess that's because I'm a teacher so I want to get out of school, too!

Friday night, some of Ashley's friends gave her a sweet little baby shower at Cantina 511. Michelle, Katie Ferguson, Faith, Rachel, Katie Haney, and Amy Womble were all there. Ashley was so surprised and we had such a good time. She is very blessed to have this great group of ladies to be friends with!

Saturday-Today it started out cold, but warmed up soon. It was so pretty outside. Ashley, John, and David came over so David could play. He loves playing with our little neighbor down the street.

We had fun outside and then we went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. I could just eat this child up!

Tonight I think it's date night. Steve bought a big screen TV today (boys and their toys!!) I'm pretty sure he's going to want to come home and play with it after dinner!

Winter Warm Up

My house is empty again. Both my sweet girls have gone back to school and now my house feels really big and quiet.

I love having them home. We always have so much fun together. They cook for me. (This week Laura made some really yummy vegetable soup that we ate for dinner and I took the leftovers to work.) They clean for me. Every day they have the kitchen all clean and spotless when I get home with candles burning and everything organized. They really are little mommies. Plus we have fun going out to dinner and laughing at funny things on YouTube or watching TV shows together.

I can't believe this is their last semester of college. What on earth? I am about to have all adult children and Steve and I are going to breathe a big sigh of relief and satisfaction that we actually put four kids through college and they all graduated with no debt. (Really he did the most of it, but I helped! He is such a good daddy.) Anyway...I'm so thankful for my family and what a good Christmas break we had. And I am glad Mark is back home for a little while until he goes to law school.

This was my first full week back to school. It is so funny how quickly the rat race sets back in. Steve was super busy and I worked late hours trying to get back into the swing of everything. I love my students though and had some sweet moments with them this week.

We also did some cute winter stuff. Third grade is still a fun age.

Life just continues to move ahead at the speed of light.

Last night I made tacos and guacamole and then we had Family Movie Night and went to see Zero Dark Thirty together. Everyone liked it alot! I thought it was very interesting to see just how the capture and killing of Bin Laden took place. Mark said it was one of the best movies he's ever seen. (He likes stuff like that! Haha!)

Believe it or not, it is 74 degrees here today. Is that crazy or what?

John, Ashley, and David came over to wash their cars since it was so nice. Here is David looking out the window waiting to go outside and help.

He played so hard on his bike and tractor and helped wash the car. Then he got sucked into watching the NC State game with Steve and Mark. Steve is telling him all about the game and teaching him to say "Go Pack!"

He sat with me for a while and ate a little snack while we watched the game.

State won against Duke so that is HUGE! Steve and Mark were so happy!

Ashley posted this on Instagram after he got home.

Bless his heart....he was worn out from all the fun! He loves Mickey Mouse and Toy Story right now. You can see his Mickey and his Buzz Lightyear in the bed with him. Isn't that the sweetest little boy picture? I know I'm a big mushball, but I love that angel. He seriously brightens up my day every time I see his precious face.

I am so blessed.

Life This Week

Wow...it is already almost Wednesday? This week is going by fast. I need to play a little catch up.

We had a really nice weekend. Friday night Steve and I got Mexican food with Laura and Lindy and then just came home and went to bed early. Going back to work will do that to you!

Saturday we took Christmas down and got everything put away. Now my house seems kind of bare, but it's nice to have all the clutter gone. Our kids were all busy on Saturday night so Steve wanted me to go see Skyfall with him. We got some dinner and then headed to the movie theater, but it was sold out. So we just came home and watched Homeland. I had downloaded a few episodes onto my Kindle Fire and Steve got some kind of cord that can connect the Kindle to the big screen so that makes it more fun. Do you watch Homeland? What do you think? I thought it was interesting, but to me it was kind of graphic.

Sunday was an AWESOME day at church. Our pastor cast his vision for our church for 2013 and it was just so good.

I promise it will bless you to hear it (even if you don't go to my church)!

Then I watched the season premiere of Downton Abbey and fell asleep before it was over even though I loved it. I had to finish watching it the next day. Haha!

Mark has gone back to Washington this week to move all of his stuff back home. He is going to be living here again until he starts law school in the fall.

I have had so much fun spending time with my girls this week. I will miss them when they have to go back to school for their last semester of college ever!! (What on earth?)

Monday after school we went to a little French bakery called Amelie's and got some dessert.

They always up for finding good places to eat and fun things to do!

They keep me up to date on everything. I love them!

Only a few days left and then my revolving door will turn and Laura and Lindy will leave and Mark will come back.

Happy Hump Day tomorrow...enjoy the rest of your week!

Hello 2013!

Today it was back to reality for me. It was our first day back at school. It wasn't too bad. I really love my job and I actually missed my sweet kiddos while we were out. I am thankful that I don't dread going back to work. Plus, we had such a nice long break, I really can't complain.

I feel like I've gotten to have lots of time to have fun with my family and relax over the holidays. And my class gave me so many nice gift cards for Christmas! I had fun using them to go out to eat, see movies, get my nails done, and shop. Laura and Lindy and I met for lunch after church on Sunday and it was all courtesy of a gift card! I am so spoiled.

How was your New Year's? We didn't do much for New Year's Eve but I like it low-key like that. First Laura, Steve, and I went to dinner at one of our favorite places, Hickory Tavern.

Then we came home and our neighbors came over for dessert and coffee. We played games and watched Clemson v. LSU in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. Our neighbors left before 12:00, though, and I had to be woken up to see the ball drop! I was sad that this was the first year without Dick Clark. It seems like I've spent every New Year's Eve of my life with him!

On New Year's Day, I was hoping to take down our Christmas stuff, but nobody was in the mood to do that, so we decided to wait. I made the traditional New Year's Day meal of pork tenderloin, homemade collard greens, black eyed peas, rice, and jalepeno-cheddar cornbread muffins. My kids said the smell of those collard greens cooking all day was giving them a headache! Haha! I used Paula Deen's recipe, though, and they tasted good even if they don't smell so great. And the cornbread muffins were delish!

One of my Christmas gifts arrived yesterday. My new boots! I already got some Uggs for Christmas. (I had been wanting some for so long!) And then when we found out Laura was moving to Boston, we decided we all needed some better snow boots and warm clothes for when we go visit her, so Steve got me these boots, too!

Now, I just need some snow to go with them.

And now for a little dose of precious...

Oh my word...when Ashley sent this to me, I thought I would die from the cuteness of it. Does he look 16 or what??

I love that sweet boy!
