Remember September?

It is already the last day of September? It went by so fast!  It has been a really good month, but I didn't have much time to sit down and blog. I guess that's just how real life goes sometimes.

September was mostly spent just working and hanging out with my kids. They have all been coming and going on weekends.
A few weekends ago Mark was home for the weekend. We always love it when he can come home.  I think he took lots of naps and hung out with friends mostly. He wanted to get his bike to take back to Washington. He rides it from his house to the metro station every morning. After church on Sunday we met Ashley, John, and David at Chili's. It was such a beautiful day so we ate outside and Steve and Mark took David down to the lake to feed the ducks.

Mark is home again this week to study and take the LSAT again. He did really well the first time, but he has his sights set on some top tier law schools, so he wants to try and improve his score even more. This is what is covering my kitchen table again...

And this is his name tag for his internship. It looks so official! :)

I've also been getting back into the routine at school. I love my class and I know this is going to be another good year for me.

Here we are on our first field trip of the year to the James K. Polk house...

Every month the PTA does something to appreciate teachers so in September they brought us apple cider donuts from Skytop Apple Orchard and hot apple cider in these cute cups! Believe me, I know I am so blessed to work in such a wonderful school.

I have also spent alot of time lately with this sweet boy.

He is cuter every day and he is starting to talk so much more. I love being able to communicate with him more now. He calls me "Nin" since he can't say Nana quite yet. He loves coming to our house and playing outside and riding on his tricycle and in his car.

He always takes me by the hand and wants me to go places with him which is so cute. One of the sweetest times we've had lately was when he stayed at my house for the afternoon. He woke up from his nap and I could hearing him calling, "Nin! Nin!" So I went and got him up.  And, by the way, don't you love those warm little cheeks right after they wake up from a nap?  I could eat him up!  I got him a popsicle and we just sat on our front steps out in the sunshine sharing it together with him in his cute little sock feet and rosy cheeks. He is so precious to me!

Last week we did the Purple Stride walk for pancreatic cancer.

It was a beautiful day and we got up early and walked 3 miles to raise money and awareness. We all had pictures of Steve's dad on the back of our shirts to remember him.

I know pancreatic cancer is rare, but it is so deadly. I hope they can find a cure soon.

Ashley had her 18 week ultrasound this week, but she is not going to find out what she is having until it gets here. I can't decide if I think it's a boy or girl?? I guess I will know in March!

And I am officially addicted to Downton Abbey. I finished the whole first season and am halfway through the second season. Y'all it is SO good! I love getting my ice cream and my blanket and getting all cozy to watch.

I can't wait for Season 3 to get here in January!

And, finally, I got my hair cut, colored, and highlighted yesterday.

You probably can't really even tell, but at least I'm glad I like it because it sure is expensive to get all that done!! Good grief! I'm hoping it will be at least six more weeks until I need it again.

This Week

How is your weekend going? I sure do appreciate weekends so much more during the school year! It has been a busy week like always. I've had lots of meetings after school and we have been watching the DNC and I have been trying to take notes on everything they are saying. We like to watch both of the conventions and really try to listen and learn. But I have been staying up way too late!

This week I also tried a new recipe from Pinterest that I absolutely LOVED. (I have tried some dud recipes from Pinterest, but this one was so good!) I thought I would share it with you because I promise it won't disappoint-especially if you like spicy stuff like I do! It was Baked Creamy Chicken Taquitos With Creamy Cilantro-Lime Ranch Dressing. Steve and I both thought it was a "keeper"! :)

Mark came home this weekend to get a few things he needed so I was happy to get to see him. We took him to dinner tonight at Carraba's. That is one of our favorite places and we had fun listening to him tell us all about how it is going in Washington.

He is loving living there. He is enjoying his internship and he is also working at Gold's Gym, so he is staying very busy. He is about to start applying to law schools, so he really has a lot going on right now.

Today Ashley and I went to a shower for our friend Faith. She is having twin baby girls after many years of waiting, so we are so happy for her!

The shower was so nice and her sister, Grace, did an amazing job getting everything ready. It was all so cute and the food was delicious!

I was so glad I also got to see my sweet friend, Mandi. She drove all the way from Florida just to come to the shower. She is one of the sweetest people on the planet and I just love her. We had so much fun catching up. I wish I could have spent more time with her! And I finally got to meet Rachel. She is also expecting a little girl! I love meeting blog and twitter friends.

The blog world is full of expectant mommies lately! By the way, did I tell you that Ashley is expecting another baby? She is due in March and we are so excited! I was so cut out to be a Nana. Bring it on!

When I got home, it was kind of dark and rainy and Steve and Mark were both gone, so I decided to take a nap and watch some of Downton Abbey.

My mom gave me the whole first season on DVD. I had seen the first one, but now I am really getting into it more. I am now up to the fifth show of that season. (The third one was really good!!) Have you ever seen it?

I also got the first season of Revenge on Netflix.

A friend of mine was just telling me how much she liked it and that I should try it. I haven't watched it yet, but I am going to try to this week.

And, guess what we finally broke down and bought this week? A Keurig! I know I'm way behind everyone else, but I have loved finally having one. I only drink one cup of coffee in the morning anyway, so this works out perfectly.

And I love how you can make hot tea or hot chocolate with it, too!

Tomorrow is our pastor's last Sunday at our church. He is retiring and we are getting a new pastor very soon. I will miss our pastor, but I am excited to see what God has in store for our church. It is going to be an exciting time for us! So, I better get to bed and get ready for tomorrow. Church, then lunch with Ashley, John, and David then probably some Panthers football and lesson planning.

Hope your weekend is going well, too!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Happy Labor Day Weekend! We are just about to die here from all the heat and humidity, but we are still enjoying having a long weekend! Ashley and David came over this morning so David could ride on his tricycle. He LOVES that thing!! And he is so cute riding it!

I am finished with my second full week of school now and our Open House was Thursday night, so I feel like I can kind of breathe a little bit and start really getting into a routine. I'm thankful to have all that behind me!

Football season has started this week, so that has been fun! We watched the Gamecocks play on Thursday night. They won, but it wasn't pretty!

Today we are watching Laura and Lindy's schools (App State and ECU) play each other to open the season. They just texted me and said it was so hot they felt faint so they left early! Haha. Why on earth would anyone schedule a game for 12:00 noon on a 95 degree day??

Last night NC State played Tennessee. Some of our friends who I think might seriously be the BIGGEST UT fans on the planet (they are always wearing orange and their house is decorated with orange and they even have orange and white Christmas trees!) invited us over to watch the game. We had a great time, but it did not go well for State. Brittany even made a Tennessee cake for dessert and made Steve eat it on an orange plate!

We have been busy this week watching the RNC when we could. The DNC is in Charlotte next week, so everyone is expecting lots of crowds and people here. It should be interesting. I love watching the conventions and all the speeches. It is fun to see all the delegates excited about their party.

We have also been watching all the craziness with Hurricane Isaac. I feel so bad for the people in New Orleans. I think I would start to wonder if I really wanted to stay there! Steve's whole extended family lives in Mississippi so they always get hit hard with rain and wind when these hurricanes come through. This is what one of his cousins who lives in south Mississippi posted on her facebook this week!

This week was also Steve's brother, Mike's 50th birthday. We went out to dinner with family and friends and then had a little party for him at Steve's mom's house. He looks like he's taking 50 in stride, right!?? :) This picture makes me laugh.

And we got some exciting news this week! Laura got an official job offer from Digitas, the company she interned with this summer. She was so happy because she LOVED working there. And we were so proud of her!

So, it looks like she will be moving to Boston after she graduates. I will miss her so much, but I know she will love it up there. And I know we will go see her alot too! We are going to put good use to all our frequent flier miles with Mark in Washington and Laura in Boston! All my babies are growing up. It's fun to see what paths they will all take.
