Baby Love

This has been a busy week! I still can't believe David is here and I am a grandmother. haha I think it will take a while to get used to that! Last Tuesday was such a happy day for our family. Then I took off Wednesday to spend time with Ashley and the baby and to hang out with Lindy and Mark while they were here. Lindy and I went by the hospital for a little while on Wednesday.






Ashley had so many visitors! Everyone was so sweet to come by and wish her well.

I went back to school on Thursday and Friday. I knew Ashley would be okay since John was home all week. She had plenty of people coming by to see the baby and check on her!

Laura got to come home on Friday, so she was excited to get to meet Baby David!





You can't tell, but David is wearing his little Gamecocks shirt! Is he precious, or what??



I am glad Laura got stay over the weekend. She spent some time hanging out with Steve's parents & played cards over there one night.


Then last night we watched the Oscars together and made banana splits!


I have never watched the Oscars all the way to the end before, but I did this time! Sunday nights are way more fun when I don't have to go to school on Monday! I took the first part of this week off to help Ashley.

This morning Laura and I picked up bagels and took them over to Ashley's. Then Laura left to go back to school and Ashley and I took David to the doctor. Ashley was a little bit worried that he had lost some weight, but when we went to the doctor today, he had gained it all back! He is eating like a little pig! :)




He is such a sweet baby. He loves to eat, sleep, sit in his swing, and cuddle. He DOESN'T like being undressed or having his diaper changed. He was so good today while I was over there. He barely cried at all and slept almost the whole day. Ashley got to take a nap and I even fell asleep, too. It was so quiet at their house!


He is the sweetest thing. I already love him so much!

Well, I am now in Grandma heaven! Ashley and John had a precious baby boy yesterday. Let me introduce you to David Walker Scott!


We think he's the sweetest thing we've ever seen!

He weighed 7 lbs. 14 oz. and was 21 inches long. Ashley is doing great and they are so excited.

I am so glad it was a little boy. Boys are so much fun and I think John is going to love having a son! Big plans are already being made for a lifetime of happy times together. And Ashley is going to be blessed to have a boy, too. There is just something special between a little boy and his mommy! Have you heard Brad Paisley's song, If He's Anything Like Me?? Everytime I hear it I smile just thinking about how fun it is having a boy!!

I will take some good pictures of Ashley and John with the baby today when we go visit. She was pretty wiped out yesterday. We took lots of pictures, so I will be showing you more in the next day or two!

Babies are such a miracle. They are such a sweet gift from God! We are so thankful for this precious boy!

ToDaY iS tHe DaY!!

Ashley is having her baby today! She got to the hospital this morning at 6:45 and is being induced as we speak. We are so excited! I will give you all the details and lots of pictures very soon. I just wanted to let everyone know and ask you to pray for a safe and happy delivery of Baby Scott.

Now I am off to get my teeth out of that glass by the bed and head to the hospital!

The Week Gone By

Yep....another week has gone by and no blogging time till today! So...since I want to remember everything I did this past week, we are doing a review post today!

*Valentine's Day


This is always a fun day at school. My class was so excited for our party. I brought a few snacks, and they brought some too.


They decorated bags and exchanged Valentine's cards.


I put on music and they just had fun hanging out and reading their cards and talking. They were so sweet. One little boy brought me this rose...


and another little boy's mom made me a homemade cheesecake that was delicious!


Steve got me these beautiful roses...


AND left me a pack of pretzel m&m's in my car. True love, right??

*Still Waiting

It was another week of waiting on Ashley's baby to get here.


She didn't work this week and came over several times to go walking in our neighborhood. She also walked the mall and tried to do everything she could think of to get something going, but nothing has worked yet! She is due on Wednesday, so maybe this week!

*Family Dinners

Two of Steve's sisters were in town Friday night, so we went to dinner at Mario's (a little Italian restaurant near our house). It was fun catching up with them and spending some time laughing and enjoying being together. Last night was my aunt's birthday, so we went to dinner with my family to Carraba's. I wish I had taken pictures, but I didn't. We had a good time though!

We have been having a little taste of spring here for the past few days and it has been amazing! Steve and I went for a walk yesterday and also got to spend some time on our porch. I wish the warm weather was here to stay, but I know it will get cold again. I hope the flowers and trees don't start budding only to have it freeze again and kill them.


I am so ready for spring!

*Choir Retreat

Yesterday was a choir retreat at our church. We started working on our Easter music and some songs for a choir presentation in June. We also played a few games like trying to balance dice on a tongue depresser that you are holding in your mouth while trying to pass them back and forth, etc. (Kind of like games on A Minute To Win It!) Here are my friends Sandi and Faith who were representing the alto section!


I am having lots of fun being in the choir!

So...that brings us back around to today. I have a feeling this next week might be a pretty exciting one at our house. Hope you have a good one, too!

An Update And Early Valentines

Did you have a good weekend? Ours was really nice. The weather has been so pretty. (Hopefully we have seen the last of bad winter weather, right?) The sun is shining and it has warmed up a little, so I am loving that! I keep looking at my porch thinking it won't be long until I can sit out there again.

We have gotten in a lot of family time this weekend. We went to Steve's parents' house for pizza on Friday night. And Steve's sister from Arizona also came in town this week to see his dad, so we have had fun visiting with her. Then yesterday we all went out to lunch at McAlister's Deli for my niece's birthday.






Steve just wants to spend as much time with his dad as he can right now.

Can I just tell you how blessed I feel to have such wonderful friends? I am so thankful for all of you, my blogging friends! You are such an encouragement to me and you always lift me up in prayer. Thank you! The news we got this week about Steve's dad was what we were expecting. He does have cancer and it can't be removed. So, the next step is chemotherapy. He will start that very soon. It is hard news to hear, but I know God is in control. Please keep praying and I will keep you posted!

Steve and I went out for an early Valentine's dinner last night. We ate at one of our favorite restaurants, Bonefish Grille. We have figured out a way to beat the system when it comes to long waiting times. We just sit at the bar! We always get seated right away and it's so worth it! The wait was 70 minutes last night, but we just took the first seats available in the bar area and had a fun night with no waiting. We had planned on coming home and watching a movie or something, but apparently we are getting OLD because we both fell asleep about 9:30! haha

Last week I sent Laura and Lindy and Mark their Valentine's Day cards and a little gift. Laura and Lindy love the movie Fever Pitch, so I ordered that for them.


That movie is so much fun because it was filmed live when the Boston Red Sox really did beat the Yankees and ended their terrible losing streak. It is exciting to watch!

Speaking of Laura and Lindy, did I tell you that Lindy bought her boyfriend a puppy for Christmas? She sent me this picture of him yesterday.


Isn't he cute?? He is getting so big!

Anyway...I got Mark a gift card and I am hoping Ashley is going to get a gift of her own very soon!! We are still waiting on that baby!

I also bought cards and candy for my class. Do you remember Fun Dip?


I used to love that when I was little, so I got some for my kids. We are having a party at school tomorrow and they are so excited.

Curve Ball

Hi all my blogging friends. I have a very important prayer request to share with you. I know that I can count on all of you to pray diligently and that means so much to me.

We were thrown a real curve ball this weekend and need some urgent prayer. We found out Friday night that Steve's dad has a mass on his pancreas.


If you knew him, you would know how crazy and unexpected this news is. He is the absolute picture of health otherwise! He doesn't take a single pill and is very active. He loves to work in his yard, fly fish, travel, and even play a game of pick up basketball with his grandkids! But over the past month or so, he has been experiencing some pain and finally went to get an MRI. The news was not what we wanted to hear. In all probability, this mass is cancer. We will know more this week. But pancreatic cancer is very bad. So we have kind of had the wind knocked out of us! Please pray that the news is not as bad as it seems and that maybe somehow it is even wrong! But if it is not wrong, please just pray that we have the strength and grace to walk through it! Thank you so much. I will keep you updated.

In other news, Mark came through town this weekend on his way to see some friends in South Carolina. It was so good to see him! He always brightens our spirits. We took him out to dinner on Thursday night had fun catching up on his life. (I think he is having Spain withdrawals!) Then when he got back in town today, we met him after church at Chili's.


I wish he could have stayed longer.

Ashley and John came to Chili's with us, too. Ashley is so ready to get this baby here. After lunch, we stopped by their apartment for a little while to see everything they have gotten from all their showers.


Their nursery looks so cute and they are SET! It amazes me how much you need in order to have a baby these days. haha I think they have every luxury and every gadget that anyone could ever want! This would be a great week for that sweetie pie to get here since Steve's sisters are coming in town to see his dad. Plus, we could use some happy excitement!

This week was very dreary here. We didn't get any snow, but we sure did get some cold, rainy days. I couldn't take my kids outside for three days this week. I think most of the country is experiencing a very lonnnng, cold winter. But today when we woke up, the sun was shining and the birds were singing and it was absolutely gorgeous. I am hoping all this rain is going to bring us some bright, beautiful daffodils very soon.


They are already starting to come up. They are such a pretty sight in the middle of the gray wintertime. I'm so glad God gives us symbols of hope like that. I know He is in control and is going to take care of us...even when we are walking through a dark and cold valley.
