First Official Day

I am considering today my first official day of summer vacation and it was great!

I didn't really get to sleep in, but that's okay because my body really hasn't adjusted to sleeping in yet. I am still waking up at 6:00??!! But this morning I had to take Mark over to a friend's house because he left today for a resort in the Dominican Republic for a week long senior trip with some friends (and chaperones!). His cell phone doesn't work there, so I am assuming they are there safely and he is probably already having fun.

And guess what? I tried Sonic for the first time today! It was just as good as everyone has said it was! I just got the Sonic cheeseburger, the famous "tots", and a cherry limeade.

But we were sitting there looking at the menu and I realized I am going to have to go back numerous times this summer to try all the yummy stuff they have!

I did lots of laundry today and now there are only a few things left in my basket, so yay for that!! I also got to take a nap this afternoon with a fan blowing in my room making it nice and cool. That is some good sleeping!

Late this afternoon I took Laura and Lindy with me over to my assistant, Toni's house. She got a new Sheltie puppy Friday and oh. my. goodness! Is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen???

He is so tiny and adorable. We had fun playing in the backyard with him for a while. He is still such a brand new puppy (8 1/2 weeks old) so he just toddles around right now.

I am excited because I really do love cooking and planning healthy meals for my family and now that the craziness has died down I can do that more. Tonight I made oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, lima beans, and tea. Then I cut up some fresh peaches and put them over pound cake for dessert. We ate on our porch like we always do in the summer and Steve cleaned up the kitchen for me!! I think we might even go for a walk together!

And, tonight, well...I'm having a hard time deciding between watching The Bachelorette, Jon and Kate Plus 8-The Early Years, and reading my book. Wow...it's just rough deciding what to do with all my free time! :)

Isn't Sonic wonderful? I don't eat there very often, but I love their fountain drinks!

Your day sounds nice and restful, and I hope you have many, many more of them!

Hi Betsy, I rolled over from Kelly. I have been reading your blog for a couple of weeks now. You have such a good looking family. I just wanted to say "hip, hip, hooray" for your first Sonic visit! The drinks are GREAT!! If you drink diet drinks, try a diet vanilla coke with a splash of cherry. It is delish! Also, our Sonic offers "happy hour" between 2 & 4 so check it out.

I'm so glad you had your first Sonic! Definitely try a Cherry Coke. So good. I think I want to come to your house for dinner. Your menu sounded wonderful. And, yes, that puppy is about the cutest thing I have seen!

Hi, I came from Kelly's blog. I saw that you tried Sonic and just had to comment. Sonic drinks are one of the greatest things ever. I blogged about them not that long ago. Plus, I was having the exact same problem with deciding between Bachelorette, John & Kate and reading. I went with Bachelorette,so good!

That Sheltie has to be one of the cutest things I have ever seen! Too cute! Glad you finally tried Sonic. Now you're probably hooked like the rest of us!
Glad you're enjoying you're free time.
