Chi O Weekend Follow Up/FLA Trip

We had a great time at Parents Weekend! Saturday night, we took Ashley and John out to Carraba's for dinner, then on the the Chi-O Awards Ceremony and Silent Auction. It was held at Williams-Brice Football Stadium in a huge banquet room above the stadium. It was such a nice event and we had fun getting to meet more of Ashley's friends and their parents. There were about 600 people there and Ashley had to speak in front of all of them! She did a great job! Here are just a few pictures:

Ashley with the rest of the Executive Board of Chi-O (sorry it is so dark-the lights were down really low!)

Ashley and Steve--proud Daddy!

This morning Mark, Laura, and Lindy drove to Columbia to meet us for breakfast at a little bagel shop on campus. Mmmmm! It was fun hanging out together. Mark is going to USC next year and he was getting so excited being there on campus!

Then it was time to head to Florida. Can you say RAIN?? It literally rained the entire way from Columbia to West Palm Beach!

But, really, it was nice! We watched Fever Pitch and Dan In Real Life on the way and I took about four naps! haha :) I drove for a little while to let Steve nap and had to be so careful because it was raining so hard and there was so much traffic!

We got here about 7:00 pm. Steve's brother, Mike, lives here and that is who we stay with when we come (or sometimes with his Uncle Thad, who also lives here.) And, let me tell you, he had the BEST dinner waiting for us. Mike is an awesome cook and he made a shrimp boil with shrimp, spicy sausage, potatoes, and corn on the cob. He makes a homemade cocktail sauce to go with it and a nice big salad. Oh my goodness...it is so delicious!

Here Mike is working hard outside on the grill cooking us up the shrimp boil:

Here is just some of our yummy dinner right before we ate!

There is a special treat that we always look forward to here that we can't get in Charlotte--chocolate almond ice cream from Publix!

We don't have Publix in Charlotte, so we have to get it here. Steve went out and got us some after dinner. What a perfect way to finish up the night. We are so happy to be here and looking forward to a really fun week!
